Memorial Day weekend, and still A LOT of snow on Mt Hood

This picture is taken from the edge of Highway 26 near the gate that is presently CLOSED to drive into Trillium Lake. Behind me is a huge snow bank that is keeping the road from being opened. You can see that Mt Hood is still totally white from the snow. Nothing has started to melt as it usually has.

Typically, all the lakes on Mt Hood are open for the Memorial Day weekend. However this year, Trillium, Clear, Clackamas, Frog, Little Crater, and Harriet are all still snowed in. Some people even drove up without checking the snow levels and were very disappointed when they arrived to find out that their campgrounds were not open yet.

  1. beautiful vista and sky! I hope the lakes open soon so you can enjoy them in the Spring!

  2. Ahhhhhhhh! I'm speechless!!!!!!!!

  3. That's a beauty! I usually get my pix of Mt. Hood from a moving car, but I have a couple where I actually got out and they are in focus. I always like to see this mountain from any angle!

  4. Excellent shot, love that mountain in the backgroud.

    Have a great weekend.

  5. Beautiful. As I was growing up my grandparents picture window had Mt. Hood as the view. Always beautiful! Excuse the cliche' but "Thanks for the memories"

  6. Beautiful shot!! Nice to see a good snow pack still!! All the campers can just wait! Oregon needs all the water it can get so we can have a great summer! Thanks for sharing!

  7. So beautiful and hard to imagine so much snow. The temps have been in the 90's around here.

  8. Beautiful shot !!!

The snow has almost all melted off the mountains that I can see from my front door..

Northern Nevada did not get a lot of snow this winter, I think most of it headed up your way !

I appreciate everyone that stops by to check out the Mt Hood to Portland, Oregon area through my photos ... Have a wonderful day!
