Lush River Edges

This is currently my desktop image. It is such a perfect example of how gorgeous and green the river edges are.

On a personal note, Happy Birthday to my husband. I am so lucky to have such a fun-loving, sweet and supportive person in my life :)

Tiger Lily

Tiger lilies are one of my favorite flowers. They grow wild up in the Hoodland area. I remember them growing in my yard when I was a kid. These were glowing in the sun and just asking to be photographed ;)

Salmon River

When the sun went behind the mountains, it was a good time to try to get a photograph of Salmon River. The water was cool and felt good on bare feet. There were wildflowers growing on the mossy rocks on the opposite side. And occasionally a fish would jump. Perfect :)

On another note, I thought this article was cute. About a family visiting Oregon for the first time. A nice way to pass some time and read about the areas I love and the state I am lucky enough to live in.

Bracket Fungus

All along the Salmon River trail, where I spent this past Saturday (and my entire childhood) exploring and taking photos, there were old fallen logs covered in bracket fungus.

Tomorrow I will post a picture of the beautiful river and continue with my week of photos from Salmon River ... stay tuned ;)

Stellar Jay Feather

As I have mentioned in previous blog posts, I grew up basically on the side of Mt Hood in a very small village called Welches. Along the south side of our community runs the Salmon River. I spent many days of my childhood at the Salmon River. The name of our street was Salmon River Rd. It was a very short bike ride or run to go dip your feet in its chilly waters.

On Saturday, my husband and I spent the entire day up on the Salmon River. He fished, and I took photos. This week I will post some of my favorites from the day.

Todays photo is of a Stellar Jay feather. I remember the jays driving me crazy when I was a kid with their loud screeching "caws" first thing in the morning. While the background unfortunatly is quite overexposed, the feather itself shows its ridges and details, plus its bold blue and black patterns.
