Bridal Veil Post Office

I was reading the local Sandy newspaper and came across this article.
About 15 minutes east up I-84 is the tiny town known as Bridal Veil. The town consists of a church, cemetary, and post office. The church is being torn down this week by the Trust for Public Lands. So essentially, 1/3 of the town will be torn down. The cemetary was damaged last year due to a trampling elk herd.

The 100 square foot, 125 year old post office is very popular. Because of the cute name of the community, many brides take their wedding invitations to the tiny building to be hand postmarked and mailed out. About two years ago I dropped off my own wedding invitations, and when I was leaving, took this photo. It would be very sad if the post office closed, but for now, according to the article, it is safe.

On a completely unrelated note, I am totally obsessed with watching the Decorah Eagles. Give yourself a couple minutes of calm. Check them out. All 3 babies have hatched now and are sooo cute!

  1. Great old Post Office!!!

  2. What a lovely name for a town, even if all that's left is the P.O.!

  3. just outside of Orlando, FL there is a town called "Christmas"! A lot of people bring their Christmas cards to the post office there to mail out, too!

  4. Great post. Love the new look, too - very clean and fresh!

  5. Glad to hear the PO is OK for now. I hate to see anything historic be torn down...to never return. I was born 'n raised in Hillsboro and remember driving through that area as a child.

I appreciate everyone that stops by to check out the Mt Hood to Portland, Oregon area through my photos ... Have a wonderful day!
