Willamette River Sunset

Happy Friday All! The final post in my Portland week. Taken when I was photographing a wedding on the Sternwheeler Rose and caught this just as the sun was going down.

The Sign that Says It All

Day three of my Portland series; One of the most recognized signs in Portland is this one, which is located at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. The 65-ft high sign used to read "Paramount", but when the name of the building changed from The Paramount to "The Schnitz" (as it is commonly referred to) in 1984, it was changed to read "Portland". This site has some old photos of the sign before the change.

Downtown Portland

In keeping with the Portland theme I started yesterday, here is a photo of downtown and the Hawthorne Bridge, taken from the east side of the Willamette River looking west.

Since I have not been out photo taking for a few weeks and have nothing new to blog, I think I will post a series of Portland from my archives for the next few days. :)

From Wikipedia: 'Portlandia' is a sculpture by Raymond Kaskey located above the entrance of Michael Graves' Portland Building in downtown Portland, Oregon at 1120 SW 5th Avenue. It is the second-largest copper repoussé statue in the United States, after the Statue of Liberty. The statue itself is 34 feet, 10 inches high.
