I am glad to be back to sharing my photos on Fridays. I took a hiatus during the autumn and winter months, hosting a meme, but now that flowers are starting to bloom and the weather is looking more promising in the near future, I have taken my Fridays back to post my own work.
Every year, the crocus's in my Moms yard are the first flowers to catch my eye. The purple and white blooms come up in late January or February, and are such a promise of things to come. This little crocus seems pretty weather-beaten, but it is still supplying a meal to the little bug hiding inside.

The sky has been fighting with itself a bit lately. Typically in February, it is really cold and rainy, if not snowy and frozen. Not this year. The temperature has been mild, and the sun has been out a lot more than normal. More often than not, it is a day like this one, where there is some sun, but also looming clouds and grey skies, making you wonder when the next rain storm will hit.

Last week, I posted a photo taken from behind this waterfall, Ponytail Falls. From this vantage point you can see the cavern I stood in to take last weeks photo, and the trail continuing up to the right.
Ponytail Falls is located behind the more popular (and more easily accessible) Horsetail Falls in the Columbia River Gorge. I hiked there two weekends ago on my birthday, and feel it is actually more beautiful than it's sister down Horsetail Creek.

One of the things I love the most about Oregon is the green. Everything is green here. This time of year, when there are no leaves on the trees, the green is still so apparent. The evergreen trees, the lichen covering limbs you normally do not notice because of the foliage, and the moss. There is moss everywhere in my neck of the woods, and I love it's delicate presence.
