I have quite a few photos still to share of my drive this past weekend to Mosier, OR and the Rowena Plateau at the Tom McCall Nature Reserve. The area is full of beautiful wildflowers, including this one - Balsamroot.

A simple photo of the sun up above for today's post. We have nothing but sunny skies in our forecast, and it could not have come sooner. I think all of us Pacific Northwesterners were getting pretty sick of the cloudy skies and rain. Welcome back, sunshine! We have missed you!

Happy May Day! If April showers bring May flowers, then I feel it is only appropriate to post a May flower on May Day!
I planted 10 white trillium bulbs and 6 black trillium bulbs 2 years ago. Last year I didn't get any blooms. This year, starting almost a month ago, I got over a dozen white blooms. This week, the black ones have started to also bloom. I am up to 4 so far, with a few that have not opened to go. So exciting, as trilliums are my favorite, and having them in my own yard is awesome. I especially love these black ones, as they are something I have never seen before!

This is the amazing view from the Rowena Plateau, located in the Tom McCall Nature Preserve. It is described as the eastern alternative to our western gorge attraction, Crown Point, in the Columbia River Gorge. This time of year the preserve is dotted with lupine and balsam root, among many other wildflowers. I visited this gorgeous scape this past weekend and will share a few more captures over the next few days.
