Why I Love Oregon

There are hundreds of reasons why I love Oregon, but this photo sums up a few of them nicely. The green, the moss covered rocks, the ferns ... Oregon is gorgeous.

Taken on a cold winter day, this is the view from the Womens Forum outside Corbett, Oregon in the Columbia River Gorge, looking east at Crown Point and the Vista House.

The Remains of Dodge Park Lodge

Merry Christmas!   Do you think that Santa ever went down this chimney?

Dodge Park is located at the forks of the Bull Run and Sandy Rivers. Back almost 100 years ago, a lodge serviced the hundreds of visitors to the popular park. All that remains of the historic lodge now is this old (an most unfortunately, graffiti-ed) river rock fireplace.

Xmas in Nature

Christmas is tomorrow, and even nature seems to be getting into the festivities. I spotted these bright red holly berries on a walk recently, and smiled to myself knowing that little signs of the holiday spirit can truly be found almost everywhere!

A very Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Water Droplets on Moss

Things have long since melted around here after our deep freeze. The temperatures are actually quite warm - yesterday hit the low 50's in some places. But that doesn't mean that it is dry! This is only the beginning still of the wet season in the Pacific Northwest. I don't mind one bit. On of the reasons I love living here is the rain and the beauty that comes as a result, such as this deep green moss and the water droplets that got caught in it.
