Milky Way Above

Milky Way ©www.hoodphotography.com

As I mentioned earlier this week, I went to Central Oregon this past weekend. I had two photo goals. The first was the sunset, which I posted about on Monday. The second was to capture the stars!

I have only recently even tried my hand at taking any night photography. This photo is my first attempt at photographing the Milky Way, and I was pretty excited with the results. Not to shabby for a first try, I think. I can't wait to try again!

Update: Per request, here are the camera settings I used:

lens 18-55
18 mm focal length
f /5.6
25 second exposure
3200 ISO

  5. Really cool and what a blessing to live where you can see the stars.

  6. Breathtaking! I've been lucky periodically to be in places with that level of darkness and get a grand view of the night sky like that.
