Snowy Path

No, I am not done sharing snowy and icy photos from last week. It is not a common thing to have such wintery weather here in our area, so I took advantage and went out as much as possible with my camera, so I still have some things to share. This is the path that leads from my neighborhood into the woods behind it.

First Flower!!!!!

Ohhh! You cannot imagine my enthusiasm when I spotted this tiny crocus bud two weekends ago. I did not have my camera with me, but made sure to come back the very next day to make sure I took a photo of it. I am glad I did, because I imagine with the ice and snow, it was all but trampled to death :(

I went and checked my archives. My first flower post of the same crocus plant last year, which is always my first sign of spring to come, was not until March 1st. We are ahead of schedule compared to then, despite this past weekend frigid temperatures. Cold weather is the worst! Is it spring yet?!?!

Geese Above

I adore geese. When I was a kid, my Mom had a flock of pet geese. Whenever I hear the honks of geese flying overhead, I always stop and watch them gracefully cut through the sky.

Frozen Remains From Long Ago Autumn

While the ice from last weekends freezing rain storm is long melted away, I still have some photos to share. I hope you don't mind....

Elowah Falls

I am taking a short break from the ice and snow photos to post this, which I took two weekends ago, before everything got all "wintery". This is another view of Elowah Falls. From this vantage point you can see the wall of mist that blows towards the footbridge. You must walk through this in order to reach the bridge, and it leaves you pretty much soaking wet. So worth it, because the views from the bridge itself and below are amazing.

Frozen Rose Hips

I have another ice storm photo to share today. As I mentioned yesterday, we had a few inches of freezing rain fall overnight on Sunday, and I went out with my camera to capture some of the beauty. I loved the color pop that these old rose hips provided in the otherwise mainly white surroundings.

Ice Storm Aftermath

An ice storm hit the Portland Metro area last night, covering everything in freezing rain. I woke up early this morning to beat any thaw and very cautiously walked around my neighborhood. Nothing makes the ordinary and mundane look more beautiful than a coating of ice!
