Springtime Rainbow

Happy May Day! Can you believe it is already the first of May? This year is flying by it seems like. Luckily for us Oregonians, the April showers gave us a break for most of the last week of the month, and we have been enjoying some much needed sunshine. This photo was taken on Sunday, the last day of the cloudy spring rains, just as the weather turned for us. Lets keep our fingers crossed that this sunshine lasts for at least a little while longer!

Steamy Sandy River Bank

Hurray, the sun has returned! The temperatures are rising every day. Over the weekend, however, we were not so lucky. It rained pretty much the entire time. Late on Sunday, the clouds started to break, and I took that opportunity to get out and about with my son and  my camera. The sandy banks along the Sandy River were starting to warm, and the steam coming off them created a cool effect.

Patient Yearling

I am not a wildlife photographer by any stretch of the imagination. I am always so impressed with people that get amazing close up shots of wildlife from their adventures in nature, particularly action shots.

With that being said, I could not resist attempting to get a photo or two of this courageous yearling, who came out of the woods with three of his family members during a hike my son and I took along the Sandy River on Sunday. I was able to get fairly close to all 4 deer, and this one in particular was very patient with me while I snapped away.

Dandelion Fluff

I am excited for this week. The weather is going to turn from dismal to sunny and beautiful. We Oregonians deserve it. It has been pretty miserable for a few weeks now. We have only been able to escape outside in short spurts of breaks between the rainfall. To be safe, I only ventured out into my yard and this beaten up dandelion fluff caught my eye.
