I am genuinely excited for this Christmas. My son is 2 3/4 and is the perfect age to just begin enjoying the holiday. He is all about the lights, presents and Santa. I am excited about the season and time with our loving family. Enjoy a pretty holiday macro and may you all have a wonderful Christmas Eve!!!
I love rain. It is an amazing reality of living in Oregon. Love it or leave it, I say. However, this weekend was a bad one for our area, with many rivers breaching their banks and landslides creating problems throughout the state. I visited nearby Sandy River and witnessed the excess of water first hand. While I stood on the bank taking this shot, the water came up at least a foot or two in the short time it took me to position, focus and snap a few shots. I was standing at least 2 ft from the edge of the river and within the short minute of shooting my feet were in the river from the expanding swell. Scary, but pretty just the same.
Yesterday was the winter solstice -- the shortest day of the year. In our neck of the woods, that means sunrise at 7:30am and sunset at 4:30, not that you would be able to see either with the thick cloud cover. However, I did go out and do a bit of hiking to enjoy the new season and get a breath of fresh air before this weeks havoc and mayhem. In my short adventure I spotted this pretty fungi covered log and put my macro lens to use, focusing on a covered branch.
Happy Holidays to you all, and best wishes for the week to come!
