We took a road trip this past weekend to the other side of Mt Hood and visited the gorgeous White River Falls State Park. During the winter months, the park is closed, but you can park your car at the gate off Hwy 216 and walk a short distance in to the first view of the top of the two tiered falls. From that first vantage point you can turn left and go down a poorly maintained path to the base, where an old abandoned power station still stands. I took this photo of the falls from the midway point on the trail. I highly recommend going during these winter months, as the river is at its peak water flow, and we had the entire state park entirely to ourselves.
