Happy Independence Day

Happy Birthday America!

Pictured is my late grandfathers American Flag, which at some point flew over the capitol building in Washington DC, according to my grandma. I asked her if I could have the flag a few weeks ago, and this is its first holiday flying at my house. I am sure my grandpa would be pleased.

Sunset over Hwy 26

I unexpectedly found myself trying my hand at another form of night photography: light trails.

Coming down from Mt Hood on Hwy 26, the sky lit up with an amazing sunset. I had a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. "Ugh! I am gonna miss taking a photo of this amazing sky?" But as I approached the Boring overpass, I was inspired. I quickly pulled up onto the bridge, got my camera out and took the last moments of color, with the traffic flowing underneath me.

Mt. Hood from Pine Grove, Oregon

I had to hunt a bit for this photo location. I could see Mt. Hood clearly while driving up Hwy 35 from Hood River. Pulling off the highway at a random road, I came into the tiny community of Pine Grove. I parked near a warehouse and noticed the orchards behind it and Mt. Hood beyond that. Walking down the tracks a ways, this pretty view came to be, and I was glad I hunted it down!
